Vintage South Bend Babe-Oreno

Vintage South Bend Babe-Oreno a highly collectible, scaled-down version of the legendary Bass-Oreno wooden top water fishing plug. Introduced by the South Bend Bait Company around 1916, this classic American artificial bait is easily recognized by its distinctive, concave "cup-cut" red nose, which causes it to wobble, dart, and dive when ripped across the water surface. Glass Eyes (1920s–1930s): these versions feature distinct, reflective glass beads embedded into the wood. Dimensions: Measures approximately 2-7/8 to 3 inches in body length and weighs roughly 1/2 to 5/8 oz. Hardware: Features two treble hooks held together by aluminum or stainless cup rigs or screw-eye hardware. Model Number: Typically stamped or cataloged as #972. Over all condition good.
